To be honest – yes, they can be. A topical anaesthetic gel, such as lidocaine, can be applied to numb your lips before treatment. This means you should feel zero, or minimal, discomfort. Also, a very fine needle is used with dermal fillers for lip enhancement, which also means less discomfort. A cold, ice pack is applied after lip enhancement – this is also an effective way to lesson any post-treatment pain you might experience.

Are there any side effects after lip enhancement with dermal fillers?

Mild redness and swelling may appear immediately after the procedure but will subside within several days. Occasionally, localized bruising is possible. However, most patients are able to return to work and daily activities immediately after lip enhancement. How long do lip fillers last?
